To a person,
the first thing everybody said when I told them
I was thinking about pet sitting as a career was:
"Oh — you’d be good at that!"
And, they’re right! They must recognize my sincere love and respect for animals, and how much I enjoy being with them. I think animals can tell, too, and are happy to see me.
I've lived
with dogs and cats practically all my life. And, occasionally,
there have been fish and birds around, as well. Because
of my home situation, I am unable to
live with more than one cat, and I miss the other animals.
Play time with your pet is play time for me, so you know I won't skimp there.
My
chiropractor tells me I need to walk more, and I much prefer working
outside to in, so I’m
motivated to get out and enjoy the dog walks.
I
am also a graduate of the A Pet's World Academy for
pet sitters.
It boils down to: I’ll treat your companions like they’re my own — with love and care!
People in this
valley have to work hard and long, and, often, that doesn't leave one
with enough energy and time to take care of their dog's exercise needs.
Even if you do
have the time, you may not want to go
out in allergy season, or go out in rain and wind to get wet and cold.
Walking your
doggie is what my time is for, so, call me!
Dogs like to
get out, too!
To keep your companion animals happy, safe, and healthy.
When you have
to be away from your pets, it can cause them great stress
and anxiety.
If you kennel you pet, not only do they miss you, but they also have the stress of being away from their known, home environment, which can make them feel abandoned and confused. And, while some kennels are surely good, most keep your pet in a cage, or in an 8x10 foot "run." Kenneled animals usually get no comfort or exercise; no personal care or attention.
So, you can
have a
friend or a local high schooler check in on your pets, but, how
reliable will they be? How much time will they spend with your
pet? I'll be reliable, and spend time playing with you
pets. I know that, like any other
member of your family, your pets can get lonely and sad if they don't
have company and play. Heck, I
get lonely and sad if I don't have company and play! So, since
I'm not upset by leaving my home — we make a great combo!
I have no
commitments or responsibilities that might prevent me from staying in
your home from dawn to dusk.
I am reliable and conscientious, and will go through a list of things
to check (e.g., are the appliances turned off, is the porch light on,
do the plants need water?)
I'll be happy to call in, or e-mail, status reports.
