Julie’s Puppy
Black Magic
Mag is a very frisky year-old puppy. She behaves beautifully — until one lets her know that play is OK. Then, we have fun playing push-away and fetch, or she turns into a tireless tornado: either in a classic tail-chase, or in sprinted laps around the yard. I’ve never seen her still for more than about two minutes.

She likes to carry my shoes around, even if I’m still wearing them!

I had to hold her down to keep her still
long
enough for this picture to be taken.
Sandy’s Menagerie
Cricket (A.K.A. Ms. Grumpa)

Just look at that face — doesn’t she look grumpy?
Even
if she is all snug and hanging on to her favorite toy of the moment.
Still, it’s only her looks, not her temperament,
that’s
grumpy.
Here, she quite politely posed while I took a picture
of a bib I’d made for my nephew’s first birthday.
Xanie
Xanie is the longest, skinniest cat I’ve ever met.
She
(like me) always seems to be cold, and I was quite happy to let her
sleep under
the bed covers with me.

Here, she’s modeling another bib I made for my
nephew.
(This one was for a Japanese holiday:
Boy’s Day (A.K.A. Carp Day).)
Nakita
Nakita is a total sweetie.
When my father met her, he said she reminded him of snow bank: so white, and calm, and puffy.
She
also loves company. When I was the only
person in the house, she’d stick with me, even if she is a Samoyed, and
I was
sleeping in a room with a space heater.
(Hey, this was Colorado in January;
it was cold!)

Here, she’s
using my sweat pants as a pillow, but one
can still see the disgust with the heat in her eyes.
Ah, but, she’s tricky
in her calmness. Look closely: see
how she’s managed to lie on the heater cord in such a way that the plug
has
come out of the socket?
She did that repeatedly, and never pulled the heater off the table or
bent the plug.
